Helping You Help Yourself
Letter Wizards
Letter wizards allow your school the flexibility to send customized letters to selective recipients. There are three letter wizards in NASIS that utilize a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor.
The first is the Behavior Letter Wizard. This report allows schools to send customized letters to parents or guardians of students who have reached a certain threshold of behavior events or resolutions within a date range.
The second is the Attendance Letters. This report allows schools to send customized letters to parents or guardians of students who have reached a certain threshold of absence or tardy records within a date range.
The third is the Report Designer. This report allows schools to send customized letters to any or all contacts within your school. This option is available by selecting recipients based on a previously created ad hoc filter.
The same WYSIWYG editor tool is available for use, regardless of the type of letter wizard used. There are a number of standard formatting options available, such as changing the font size or face, or style to bold, italic or underlined. Users can also created bulleted or numbered lists, justify text, or even insert images or tables.

What is unique to the Infinite Campus version of the WYSIWYG editors is the ability to pull in NASIS Fields or Sub Reports. Almost all of the fields listed under ad hoc reporting can be tied to a letter, in a similar process as when using a mail merge.

It is important to note that issues can occur when copying and pasting specially formatted text into the WYSIWYG text area. To prevent this from happening, it is best practice to copy and paste into a separate text file first. This will remove all the formatting. Then paste the text from there into the editor and reformat it using the available options.
Once your report is created, it is recommended to run a test batch to confirm that the formatting appears correctly and the report is generating for each of the desired recipients. Here is to many successful future mailings.
