Bureau Certified Trainers as a Resource
This is the third school year that schools have been on NASIS. In that time, all schools have made great progress in using NASIS for more than reporting data to the BIE. Many schools are grading, generating report cards and transcripts, sending out attendance letters and notices, and generally using many of the other modules in NASIS to help manage their student information.

Helping You Help Yourself
Letter Wizards
Letter wizards allow your school the flexibility to send customized letters to selective recipients. There are three letter wizards in NASIS that utilize a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor.
The first is the Behavior Letter Wizard. This report allows schools to send customized letters to parents or guardians of students who have reached a certain threshold of behavior events or resolutions within a date range.
The second is the Attendance Letters. This report allows schools to send customized letters to parents or guardians of students who have reached a certain threshold of absence or tardy records within a date range.
The third is the Report Designer. This report allows schools to send customized letters to any or all contacts within your school. This option is available by selecting recipients based on a previously created ad hoc filter.
The same WYSIWYG editor tool is available for use, regardless of the type of letter wizard used. There are a number of standard formatting options available, such as changing the font size or face, or style to bold, italic or underlined. Users can also created bulleted or numbered lists, justify text, or even insert images or tables.

Survey Tool
Your current version of NASIS includes a tool to design and send surveys to your valuable stakeholders. The module provides a way to gather stakeholder perceptions and use it to drive decisions.
The Survey tools allows users assigned survey-related duties the ability to create, deliver and report custom surveys. Pages containing survey questions and responses may be created, dispersed and saved for future use and reflection. Advanced filtering options let users define survey parameters and specify its recipients. The Survey module also contains the Survey Messenger tool, which can send mass voice/phone, email and portal notifications of survey details and availability. The Survey Messenger tool may also be used to send response status updates, reminding a recipient to respond or confirming the school’s reception of a completed survey.

Using Email Messenger to Contact Students and Parents/Guardians Part One
The messenger service available in NASIS provides a range of messaging services including voice, email and Parent Portal messaging to students, parents/guardians, school staff members and other messenger contacts. Messenger is used for notifying students and/or parents of general information, attendance or behavior events. In addition, a school can easily send messages to school staff members. Ad hoc filters will be used in conjunction with Messenger to easily define recipients.
